The Devil Wears Prada 2: 20 Years On

What makes it so iconic 20 years on

20 years on we’ve finally got the sequel that we’ve been hoping for and the Light can’t wait!

Although fashion is forever evolving and changing, it will always remain an expression of one’s self and a way to get creative and have fun. From cerulean, blue sweaters to Chanel boots, The Devil Wears Prada’s style was and always will be iconic. Alongside Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci are also reprising their iconic roles with a cameo performance from Donatella Versace.

In 2006 we met aspiring journalist Andy Sachs (played by Anne Hathaway) who had just graduated from university and is looking for her first big career opportunity. Although Andy has no fashion knowledge whatsoever, she gets hired as a personal assistant to the fierce fashion typhoon that is Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep) who is the famously harsh editor-in-chief of Runway Magazine in New York City. Despite struggling to fit in with colleagues and feeling like a croc in a wardrobe of kitten heels, Andy builds her confidence and shows she is worthy of her position.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 shows us that in a new age of social media and digital consumption, it is incredibly hard to sustain a print magazine. Andy returns to Miranda’s Runway to reconnect but will it be a happy reunion or will tensions fizzle amidst a changing world. But one thing is for certain, it is still Meryl Streep’s world and we are all just living in it. Grab your red stilettos and biggest sunglasses as sparks will fly.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 is released 1 May and tickets are on sale now!!
